The One Ingredient, Homemade Anti-Wrinkle Solution

The One Ingredient, Homemade Anti-Wrinkle Solution

Wrinkles.

A very visible sign that we are getting older!

These thin lines and creases — that form as a result of decreased levels of elastin and collagen in our skin — are in many ways unstoppable. Yet, there are several one ingredient, homemade remedies that can minimize their appearance.

And the great news is…you probably already have them in your home!

Wrinkles

Although aging is the primary cause for the formation of wrinkles on our skin, poor diet, stress, anxiety, and sudden weight loss also play a heavy role.

Diet tips that may help to delay the appearance of wrinkles include:

  • Drinking plenty of good, pure water. This helps to cleanse and hydrate the cells of our body.
  • Eating foods high in omega-3 fatty acids (i.e. grass-fed beef and wild-caught salmon)
  • Looking for fruits such as blueberries, strawberries, pomegranate, acai, blackberries, and raspberries — all of which are high in the vitamins and minerals necessary for skin health.
  • A daily dose of carrot juice. It is loaded with vitamin A…perfect for healthy skin.
  • Drinking several cups of a detoxifying herbal tea every day. Organic herbs such as: red clover blossoms, nettle leaf, dandelion root and leaf, yellow dock root, burdock root, licorice root, and fennel seeds — all contain powerful liver detox and blood purification properties when consumed internally. This detoxification will naturally bring about beautiful, healthy, and acne-free skin from the inside out!

Along with the foods we eat, protecting our skin from over-exposure to the sun will also help to delay the formation of wrinkles.

My One Ingredient, Homemade Anti-Wrinkle Solution

While diet control is foundational to overall skin health, let’s just be honest…we are a society of the “quick fix.”

Why do you think the anti-wrinkle cosmetic industry is making billions of dollars annually!?!

It’s time to leave it all behind and rediscover the natural remedies in your home!

My friend Dee Ann turned me on to one of the oldest and most effect one ingredient anti-wrinkle solutions that has been known for centuries…egg whites. And let me tell you, if you are looking for an instant face-lift and pore minimizer, this is it!

Method

1. Crack open one grass-fed, organic egg.

2. Separate the yolk from the egg white. Tip: Don’t toss the yolk. Use it for breakfast or as a conditioning hair mask.

3. Wash your face and neck. Pat dry.

4. Simply apply the egg white as a thin, even layer all over your face and allow it to dry. You will feel your skin tighten as it dries! Tip: Some people advise you to whisk the egg white. However, I do not. Not whisking the egg white gives the skin a sleeker, smoother appearance once dried.

5. You may either: a) Leave the egg white mask on for 20-30 minutes before washing off. b) Use it as a primer — prior to applying makeup — and leave it on all day. c) Apply it in the evening before bed and wash it off in the morning.

6. This treatment can be applied daily and the egg white saved in the refrigerator for 2-3 days. Tip: If excessive drying occurs, reduce application to 2-3 time per week.

Additional Add-Ins

  • Add a teaspoon of raw, organic honey for extra moisturizer
  • 3-4 drops of tea tree oil for acne-prone skin
  • Add 1 teaspoon of non-GMO cornstarch for oily skin and/or an extra tightening effect. (Note: This mask should be washed off 20 minutes after drying.)

Other One Ingredient Anti-Wrinkle Solutions

  • Organic Coconut Oil
  • Raw, Organic Honey
  • Mashed Avocado
  • Mashed Bananas
  • Olive Oil
  • Grapefruit Seed Extract
  • Vitamin E Oil

I just wanted to share that I have acne prone oily skin and just last week began using raw honey (actually manuka honey) to wash my face and I also made a toner from green tea, tea tree oil, apple cider vinegar and olive oil and my face has DRASTICALLY improved. It is amazing what natural ingredients can do for your skin. Thanks for sharing this I can’t wait to try it 🙂

I use raw, organic honey (locally sourced) as the most amazing mask ever! Ever since I switched from store-bought moisturizers to simple homemade “face serums”, my skin has “lost” many wrinkles. Shocked me!!!

What great ideas, I can’t wait to try them! I use organic coconut oil on my body, and emu oil mixed with a few drops of tea tree oil on my face as my am and pm moisturizer. My breakouts are now very mild ( if they happen at all ) and my crows feet have softened a lot! 🙂 it has been great on my almost 40 ( gasp! 🙂 combination skin.

Hi Andrea. I’ve read about this but what I read said that this only lasts for an hour or two – do you have other experience? Eggs are getting really expensive here so I’d rather get more bang for my buck than just 1-2 hours of fewer wrinkles :-). Thanks!!

Wrinkles don’t bother me as much as age spots! What are frugal sustainable solutions for that?

    • Jessica

      August 17, 2012 at 5:24 AM

Me, too! Me, too! And I have extremely dry, sensitive skin, so it’s scary to try new stuff, but I don’t like looking at these spots.

    • Debra

      August 17, 2012 at 6:22 AM

One of the best things I have found to reduce age (also called liver) spots topically is castor oil. To avoid drying the skin, add one drop of Vitamin D oil to every four drops of Castor Oil and rub onto spots twice daily. After a month, you will see the difference and after six months many people are spot free.
Internally, a daily infusion of Burdock Root and Milk Thistle will help cleanse the liver but make sure to boost up the fiber in your diet (at this time of year, apples are a natural choice) so that the toxins from the liver don’t just swim around in the system.
The older I get (approaching sixty) the more I find that the signs of aging are actually a beautiful thing so long as we continue to care for our bodies as the sacred temples that they are – a realization that found me one day while contemplating the patina on a piece of weathered copper – the patina added depth, dimension, and mystery to the piece I was pondering.

        August 17, 2012 at 10:26 AM

Many friends have said the same thing… about the beauty in aging… and I am okay with the wrinkles and gray hair – but the facial age (liver) spots are simply unattractive to me! Thanks for the ideas, Debra!

      November 19, 2013 at 10:47 PM

I started travelling a few years back and switched over to all natural skin care. I’ve always bought expensive creams, cleansers etc and what a bloody waste of money. Here is what I have found works for me, and I am looking forward to trying the egg whites too. My skin is not dry or oily…I drink 4 – 5 liters of water every day and that I is what I think has been the best for my skin. Also I am 40 now.
Reduce age spots – Lemon juice!. I put juice of lemon in some water every morning to drink and use the last drops to put on my face, neck/upper chest, hands and elbows. Leave on 15 minutes and simply rinse off. You will see results in about 3 weeks 🙂
Next – understand the difference between when you skin is dry and dehydrated. One requires oil, one requires water. You can have oily skin, that needs hydration.
Oil – use coconut oil, its the best. a little goes a long way and has replaced my moisturizers. Also a little on the hair is great.
Hydrate – water of course, but also raw oats, with a little yogurt and honey made into a mask is super nice. Or just honey!
Also cucumber is awesome, sliced or shredded, leave on skin like a mask 10 min or so.
Also mashed avocado with honey – also good on hair, leave on 30 minutes. Makes for a really nice shine after you shampoo/rinse out.
Coffee grinds used as a exfoliate is a great skin brightener. I also pat it on my face as a mask and let it sit, great for getting rid of bags under the eyes.
I’m always looking for new things, but I can honestly say these simple cheap fixes work as well as any fancy cream I ever used, if not better..and without the yucky chemicals and animal testing! 🙂

I use Emu Oil. Works great, a little pricey though. Coconut Oil is awesome and can be pruchased cheaply.

Don’t forget, be careful of sun exposure. Wear a wide brim hat when working in the sustainable garden to sustain your skin, a wonderful natural resource.

  14. Lori

    August 17, 2012 at 9:52 AM

Wrinkles are also caused by a lack of copper in the system. Copper is necessary for the elasticity of skin and veins. People prone to hemerrhoids, gray hair, and wrinkles are also prone to strokes and aneurysms.
An egg is good, but I also use organic virgin coconut oil which is also great! Helps with wrinkles and hydrates the skin.

    • Judith Marcy

      August 21, 2012 at 9:23 AM

      How do you supplement copper?

      • Lori

        August 21, 2012 at 1:23 PM

With food (you need to make sure the food you are eating comes from a mineral rich soil) or with chelated copper or colloidal copper.

I recently began using organic evoo for my face lotion. Every morning while in the shower the first thing I do is massage it into my face. It feels amazing after shaving. I leave it for the length of the shower then I rinse it off rubbing with my hands. When I get out of the shower I quickly massage more onto my face then leave it for good. My wife says my skin has never looked/felt so soft and the lines on my forehead have reduced.

What about issues with salmonella? I wanted to use egg white but all the salmonella issues scared me off! I watched several people use egg whites and put tissue pieces on top for a great mask. I’m just leery of bacteria. I use Argan Oil every day and it keeps my face very soft and supple. I only have wrinkles under my eyes from smiling all the time. Any thoughts on something for those wrinkles?

    • Haley FromFlorida

      July 22, 2013 at 3:37 PM

I think it should be fine if you just don’t ingest it (The raw egg). What helps soften those wrinkles is just Coconut oil, before and after your showers. and Castor oil at night. If you find them rather large and deep in the morning, just put a little castor oil on them before you go to work and you should be fine 🙂 Castor oil works fast!

After running out of my old moisturiizer, I wanted to try something new. I did some research and decided to try the Lady Soma Renew Serum. I had issues with my pore size, blemishes and some fine wrinkles. After using the Lady Soma Serum for only one week, I noticed a SIGNIFICANT change. I have very sensitiv skin and I love that I did not have any kind of reaction. I have an overall glow to my face, no blemishes or breakouts and those fine wrinkles are seriously smoothing out!

I have used the Lady Soma Renew Serum for sometime and I am always very satisfied with the wrinkle hiding results. I used to have these lines around my face – like laugh lines – and using the serum daily has filled them in, and made the lines not noticeable. It should help you out as well.

I have been using egg whites for my skin for about two years now …..I don’t like the wrinkles but products are to costly for me so after research and using myself I found this …..I have very sensitive skin……for wrinkles and fine lines I use the egg white mix with a crushed vitamin c tablet and mix with the egg let stay on 20 min….sometimes I sleep with it on ….then I boil pine needles (very high in vitamin c ) and wash the mask off my face ……I also have red patches and dry skin so on face I use rose water for this and the red patches are gone and the oil keeps my skin smooth from the rose water .The wrinkles decreased, it takes about 3 weeks use everyday but I’m almost 50…..and people can not guess my age ……

I am always complainig about my wrinkles. I’m tired of hearing myself complain. I have spent alot of money on antiwrinkle products that don’t work. I’m happy to learn there is another solution. These home remedies are worth trying. I don’t want to go the botox route. It makes me nervous. I’ve made numerous appointments and cancelled last minute. My daughter is also dealing with some skin problems. These acne remedies are also worth trying. Can someone post the exact recipes for wrinkles and for oily skin mild acne. The exact measurements would be a big help. I wouldn’t want to mess up what sounds like it could be a good thing. Thanks

In my case I’ve found that taking gelatin, which converts in the body to collagen (essential for smooth skin), has been the best way to get rid of wrinkles over time. You have to take it consistently, though. I learned about this from the book “Sip Away Your Wrinkles.”

DermalMD Anti-Aging Serum is the best instant line and wrinkle reducer, and I’ve tried a lot of them. And such a good price too! Better than Genie that leaves white residue everywhere. As long as you don’t use too much, it’s really natural looking. Give it a try. Works for me!

Very informative article. I like your method above. Egg white is great for tightening and toning skin. It works wonders for greasy skin by shrinking large pores on the skin surface, thereby reducing excess sebum. Egg white has been used in face mask recipes to achieve beautiful radiant skin. You can make a mask with egg white alone, or you can add in other powerful ingredients to provide more nourishing benefits to your skin. You can use this face marks for preventing wrinkle. Egg-white and yoghurt face mask:

Mix an egg white with a spoon of yoghurt. Add a few granules of brown sugar. Apply the mask generously on your face and neck. Massage your skin gently for about ten minutes. Allow the mask to rest for another ten minutes and then wash off. This mask is great for exfoliating dead skin and tightening loose facial skin. It makes your skin glow with youthful radiance.
