In today’s modern society with all of its expectations, responsibilities, and distractions, I have the sense that we have been conditioned to interpret many issues surrounding women’s health (mental, physical, and spiritual) as a hindrance… bothersome obligations, issues that we can’t change, and things we must accept lest we lose our way in this crazy world.
Issues such as ::
- painful menstruation
- high stress
- crippling anxiety
- lack of self-love
- never-ending feelings of failure
- hormone imbalances
- chronic fatigue
- insecurities
- over-burdened mothering
- reproductive ailments
- lack of sleep
They have all become things that women experience as deviations from health that we have been told to “just to deal with” or push aside…rather than signs that our bodies’ are begging for a deeper connection + our minds’ are craving a greater understanding for the joys of womanhood.
I suggest…that each of the above mentioned maladies — with their negative connotations and all — actually present opportunities for personal growth and positive experience.
And I want to share with you a magical, self-healing practice that has the power to assist us all in that very transition of thought.

A little blessing I lovingly refer to as Women’s Moon Magic Herbal Massage Oil.
I first shared with you nearly one year ago, my simpler version of this oil. Today, you get the new + super improved recipe!
What’s in the Oil?
For as long as folklore has told us, herb-infused oils have been used by women for a multitude of healing purposes. Following in that same tradition, I have crafted this oil with leaves, flowers, roots, plant-based oils, and essential oils all known as strong herbal allies — ready to support women of all ages through the ebbs + flows of life.
Please Note :: While the recipe calls for a multitude of ingredients — always remember — it is better that we intuitively work with what is available to us, rather than focusing on the things we do not have.
Calendula Flowers — Calendula flowers are best known for their excellent ability to heal ailments of the skin. BUT did you know that much of calendula’s magic works to support healthy fertility! While calendula is pure nourishment for the skin — she is also a wonderful anti-inflammatory agent and natural detoxifier for the tissues of the body (primarily those of the lymphatic system). Calendula aids the body in establishing regular menstrual cycles, she can ease the discomfort of menstruation, and dispels uterine + breast congestion thereby dissolving cysts.
Yarrow Leaves + Flowers — Yarrow, similar to calendula, relieves congestion of the tissues. I add yarrow to my infusion for its ability to detoxify the reproductive organs, soothe pain (tapping into its power a nerve tonic), dissolve cysts + uterine fibroids, increase circulation, balance menstruation, reduce bouts of heavy bleeding, and tonify the uterus.
Mugwort — This sacred herb contains within its leaves + stalks the gift of awakening! For the physical body, mugwort tones and steadies our nerves, she makes us strong, balances hormones, is a tonic for the ovaries + uterus, eases cramping + PMS symptoms. Mugwort will also awaken our wild + free feminine spirit. She gives us the courage + strength we need to dive deep into the sea of self-love + acceptance.
Damiana — Damiana helps to increase circulation and opens blood flow to the uterus + vagina. It’s a huge boost to our libido.
Violet Leaves + Flowers — Violet is gentle healer of women. I love this herb for her ability to move the fluid of the lymph system — often relieving breast tenderness. One of my favorite benefits of violet comes at an emotional level — violet has the to ability to help body + mind reconnect with the heart. Dissolving anger, frustration, judgment, stress, grief, and resentment its a beautiful addition to this oil.
Clary Sage Essential Oil — known as a nerve tonic with its ability to calm and balance the spirit — has a sedating effect. Additionally, since the Middle Ages, it has been used to treat female complaints such as: abdominal cramps, dysmenorrhea, emotional stress, endometriosis, hormonal imbalance, hot flashes, infertility, PMS, postpartum depression, irregular cycles, and pre-menopause.
Basil Essential Oil — is anticatarrhal, antidepressant, energizing, and restorative. Commonly used in the treatment of amenorrhea, chronic fatigue, abdominal cramps, infertility, lactation (increase milk production), mental fatigue, migraines, and ovarian cyst
Bergamot Essential Oil — among its many benefits, for women specifically, this oil is used primarily for depression, anxiety, emotional stress, physical energy, physical stress, and PMS
Ylang Ylang Essential Oil — has influence over sexual energy and enhances relationships. It may also help to stimulate the adrenal glands.
Cypress Essential Oil — common primary uses include dysmenorrhea, endometriosis, menopause, menorrhagia, fatigue, and environmental stress.
Geranium Essential Oil — historically women found this oil useful for a variety of inflammations, heavy menstrual flow, hormonal imbalances, depression, and possibly even cancer.
Frankincense — is so important for all of us women…it is a wonderful tonic for our breast tissues and a well known anti-tumoral.

- Shake vigorously.
- Label + keep on the bathroom counter for ease of use.
To Use
While there are those who formally teach techniques for womb + breast massage (like the The Arvigo Techniques of Maya Abdominal Therapy®)…I simply encourage you to use your intuition and wisdom regarding your own body to guide you in this very personal and intimate practice.
Use 2-4 pumps of oil and apply topically to one area (i.e. the abdomen in a clockwise direction around the navel) or to the entire body (i.e. ankles, wrists, bottoms of feet, the neck, breasts, abdomen, the low back) and massage as often as desired (my favorite time is after showering). This can be performed lying (preferred), sitting, or standing. This oil can also be added directly to a bath.
Giving myself the time — even if its only a few moments — to massage my womb, my breasts, and my body has been one of the most amazing sources of comfort I’ve known as a woman! I only wish I had this knowledge earlier in my life…but thankfully my daughters do! Teaching our daughters this practice of love + attention is of vital importance.
Tip :: Want to increase the healing power of this oil? Use a rose quartz wand when massaging, or add a small piece of moonstone to the oil when bottled.
Note :: If your uterus has been surgically removed, this oil meets you on another level! Use this oil and self-massage practice to reclaim the sacred energy of your womb space. They can take the physical aspect of the womb…but not the energy!

Is womb-breast massage safe while pregnant or trying to get pregnant?
Catherine
According to the website that she gives a link to above (www.arvigotherapy.com) they say to make modifications to the massage during your first trimester. There is an actual technique that they teach and I guess they teach a modification of it for those in their first trimester. Hope this helps!
